ASDAN
Curriculum Programmes
ASDAN (Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network) is an education charity and awarding organisation whose curriculum programmes and qualifications transform life chances through learning. At ECMS, we deliver:
- Personal Development Programmes (Bronze, Silver and Gold awards)
- Towards Independence
- Transition Challenge
- Short Courses
What is ASDAN at ECMS?
ECMS became a registered ASDAN centre in 2022, initially implementing the ASDAN Personal Development Programme and continuing to further introduce ASDAN Short Courses, Towards Independence and Transition Challenge. These programmes are activity-based curriculum resources that provide a life skills context to promote the development of personal, social, independent, ICT and work-related skills.
At ECMS we offer individualised home education packages to children and adults who have a range of needs resulting from and including cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, neurological conditions, hearing impairment, visual impairment, ASD, ADHD, and a wide range of other special educational needs.
We support students and families in the home environment to implement the most suitable programme to develop communication skills, teamwork, problem solving, IT, literacy and numeracy skills and provide purpose and structure to the home education package.
We set up training for families, support workers and students to access the education programme initially. Once timetables and ideas of tasks are agreed, support is provided face to face or remotely on a regular basis to ensure that the programme is running smoothly. Students are supported to compile a portfolio of evidence which is both internally and externally moderated prior to receiving their certification.
